Civil Rights and Community Justice Clinic, Karen Tokarz

This course introduces students to civil rights practice and dispute resolution from a community-based perspective. Students are provided with an opportunity to engage in client advocacy and dispute resolution on behalf of immigrants, workers, and individuals with HIV/AIDS through mediation, litigation, legislation, administrative practice, and community education.

 

Interdisciplinary Environmental Clinic, Beth Martin

This course teaches students how to work in interdisciplinary teams representing public interest, and environmental or community organizations on interdisciplinary, environmental matters. 

 

Intellectual Property and Business Formation Clinic, David Deal

A collaborative, interdisciplinary, experiential learning clinic with students from the Olin School of Business and the Department of Biomedical Engineering, this course enables students to work with qualified IP counsel to provide early stage advice to innovators within the University and in the community who might otherwise not have access to competent legal counsel.

 

Madagascar Community Development Initiative,

David Deal and Judi McLean Parks

This is a collaborative course through the School of Law, the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, Missouri Botanical Garden and the Blessing Basket Project, a non-profit organization based in St. Louis. This initiative provides students with the resources and knowledge to help balance economic, social, environmental, and political factors in a village in Madagascar.  The course is cross-listed by the Olin Business School and School of Law, but it is open to any undergraduate or graduate student.

 

Race, Education and the Law, Kimberly Norwood

Through a partnership between Washington University School of Law and Mound City Bar Association, law students participate in the Law Exposure and Professionalism Strategies Program (LEAPS), where they mentor and teach case strategy and theory to high school students.

 

Summer Public Interest Law Externships in Africa,

Karen Tokarz and Kimberly Norwood

Law students spend their summers providing pro bono services for legal aid and public interest law organizations in South Africa and Ghana.
