The Goldman Foundation has awarded a grant to the Gephardt Institute in support of summer interns serving St. Louis area non-profit or community-based organizations.
Washington University freshmen, sophomores, and juniors with unpaid internships or service placements may apply for the $3500 award to cover their living and transportation expenses.
Goldman Fellows will form a cohort and have multiple opportunities to reflect on their summer experience with guidance from the Gephardt Institute. The grant also seeks to forge sustainable relationships with community partners hosting Washington University interns.
Applications for Goldman Fellows will be accepted through April 15, 2008. More details and the application can be found on the Career Center website under the eRecruiting list of “Internships.” Ideal candidates will exhibit a passion for community service, social justice, or political action, and can articulate how the summer experience will inform their academic and career paths.
With funding for up to ten interns a summer, the Goldman Foundation gift doubles the summer service stipends previously offered by the Institute. The new program will encourage students from other parts of the country and the world to deepen their knowledge of and commitment to issues in the St. Louis community.
