"I know that I did not just get my education at Washington University; I got it (maybe the best part of it) in St. Louis, and being able to learn the skills that could eventually make me a good public servant is one way I can think of to repay this community."

It all started when Antonio visited an urban gym. There he encountered people who were passionate about community issues and became inspired to learn more. He realized that average citizens could have a say in everything from their trash pick-up to who represents them in city hall.

Originally interested in accounting, Antonio now wants to pursue a career in government. The Institute, which urges students to see jobs in public service as an important way to make a difference, supported Antonio’s dreams by sending him to a political skill-building program.
