"Although I am a minority myself, that has never made me feel different or isolated, but has instead fostered in me a deep sense of duty to other minority or disadvantaged communities."
Marley William’s Native American background has led her to an active life of advocacy on campus.
She serves as co-president of Amnesty International, and co-founder of Witaya, the indigenous student organization. Marley also channels her passion as coordinator of the Latino Empowerment Team’s service trip, which demystifies the college admissions process in low-income, highly Hispanic areas in Texas.
In summer 2008 she will participate in International Service-Learning Program in Chile. This program was developed by the Institute and the International and Area Studies Program to give students community outreach experience in a global setting.
